MOVIE

CABARET

for my movie inspired piece, in groups we looked into the seductive catergory and came acrooss the film 'Cabaret'. We liked the cover image to this film as it showed Liza Minnelli at her best angle with her leg propped up on a chair. We re-created this image using a corset and bowler hat. We played around with props and positioning and finalized on this image. I like how flattering corsets can be in pulling in at the waist. The image worked best in black and white as the mix matched colours of the corset and the background were non-contrasting.

FASHION STILL LIFE

FASHION STILL LIFE

for my fashion still life image I chose to focus on accessories instead of  your standard shoe still life. My theme to this image is a mix of gypsy and vintage with the outrageous flower and feathered jewellery. I played around with the angle of the bowler and jewellery, however in the end this is my favourite picture. I love the different tones as they contrast well with the background.

GANGURO

GANGURO
In photography we loved playing around with make-up and styling. For this piece I found a style from japan, ganguro's. This style revolves around outrageous and over the top make up. I love the 'cheeky' element to this image and the crazy styling of it. I kept the image simple by using a white background as the model herself was bright in make up.

PORTRAIT

PORTRAIT[not myself]
for my portrait shot I chose to not use myself as im not photogenic, and so I have used another model obviously. I chose to have tis piece in black and white as it compliments her skin tone. As this piece focuses on a the person them self I kept her make-up subtle and her hair natural to one side. I love the angle of her face against the light as it shades her face in the right areas being her chin, giving her a strong jaw line.

FASHION B&W

FASHION BLACK&WHITE PORTRAIT

For my fashion black and white piece I chose to keep in with t
heme of masculine and raw by styling my model in 'punk rock'.
The studded colar adds detail and gives my image a 'tough' element.
Having the image in black and white works well with my model
as she has pale skin and so it highlights her dark hair. When researching ideas for this topic I looked into 'The Rolling Stones' magazine covers and loved how rock influenced
there images were. I think I have achieved my own interpretation
of a rock 'n' roll shot.

FASHION PORTRAIT COLOUR

HOMAGE [Fashion Portrait]

Guy Bourdin is one of the most influential and well-known photographers of time. His work looks at colour and sex. From looking through some of his work I noticed he likes to focus on women's legs and  showing them in there best form. I came across an image in one of his books which featured a woman's face covered with layered fingers. I love how effective this image is when you first come across it. The symbolisim of being blind is extremely clever.

I chose to re-create this image for my Fashion portrait element. For this piece we worked in small groups. We used the colour theme of red and incorporated this by using a model with red hair, red finger nails and a red uniform blazer. I love how this image turned out, as we found it difficult to position the hands. I like the contrast of red with our models skin tone as well.

COVER SHOT

COVER shots consist of a three quater length body shot, and show great focus on the styling and blemish-free model. My cover shot here is an Homage to all covers from Company Magazine to Vogue. I chose to look focus on a natural shot by using my models daily wear and make-up. I have highlighted her features using the burn tool on photoshop to darken her eyebrows, cheekbones and eye colour. I love the intense yet naive look this image portrays and I believe this image could pass for a Vogue cover shit. Not to sound too vein or anything.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN

SO the place to be right now is down at the Design Museum in London. They are currently exhibitioning the work of Christian Louboutin and his amazing shoe collections. I visited the museum wednesday just gone and fell in love with the diamonds and crazy designs. I felt like a magpie obsessing over the glitter and shiny objects. I also loved seeing his original design work, its was good to see how he illustrates his designs and the procees of how he makes them.

IF your a bit of a shoe snob or just have an eye for designer label, get down there now! The Must Go to place in London.

HONEYCOMB

HONEYCOMB[Three quater length shot]

HONEYCOMB lighting is one of m favourite types of lighting. I Love how the face is defined by shading and shows bone structure well.

For this image I went for the most natural look by using neutral tones on her face. This type of lighting is great for producing cover shots or even make up ads. On shoot I played around with the positioning of the face to achieve the best angle. I chose this shot simply due to its similiarities of Eve. I strongly suggest this type of lighting if you are looking to shoot a simple portrait.

For the movement of his shot I focused on her hair. I used a fan to lightly move the hair to get the best image. I think that i should of used shutter speed to gain the best image as it would of show hair movement in slow motion.

GATSBY GLAMOUR

FLAPPERS were the rage of the 1920s, the era of Gatsby Glamour. Style changed dramatically from wearing your everday corset dress to the shapeless, shorter gowns. The idea of women being degraded down to small figures was despised by the infamous designer Coco Chanel, who designed flapper dresses.
As you can see in this image, women with curvier bodies could wear the 'Fashion' of this time. I am currently working on Gatsby Glamour project in a group and am loving researching the different styles. A classic theme that runs throughtout the decade was fringing, beads and chiffron fabrics. As a group I am excited to see how we can interpret this style as a modern garment

WINTER PIMP

WinterPimp[Winter Collection]

From the subtitle 'Winter Collection' your initial thoughts are fur, boots and woolly hats. My initial thought was Rihanna's 'pimp' outfit from her music video 'You da One'. The styling of her outfit consisted of shorts, fur coat and a bowler hat. I have produced a homage by keeping as close to the original styling and believe I have done this well. As for the art direction I inspired my model by playing 'You da One' and allowed her to move to the song. To highlight that this image is a representation of a pimp, the pose shown is quite sexual and explicit.

As for the make-up, I looked at tutorials of how to apply the exact make-up. I found that fake eyelashes were applied in a strange way in that they were applied to one lower lid. I have made this feature noticable in my homage and makes the image more sexual and intriguing.

Overall I think my homage to Rihanna was successful in keeping with the theme 'Winter Collection'. This piece shows sexuality and 'boyish' behaviour.

I feel I have achieved a fashion image that portrays a winter collection. The fur element being winter with the theme of 'pimp' being the fashion aspect. I think I have achieved a good fashion image.
